This is Soori style of narration of underworld Dhuniya. The speed in which he gives four layered cinema is a good entertainer for the youths who love underworld movies. Soori has very clearly told the fate of underworld people and it is his strong dosage of character tucked with dialogues that are sometime unexpected shocks the serious film goers. Even for the female characters he has freely allowed the filthy language.

Popcorn Monkey Tiger could have reduced its length and melodrama of Seena, his wife Girija and girl friend Devika could have been polished. Like how he finishes the underworld activities in a quick span of time, the same application of mind was required as audience understand the trauma in protagonist. There was no necessity to elaborate it.

After ‘Tagaru’ Soori has taken activities of nefarious activities of underworld and introduced new artists and new names he has given ‘Sugarru, Galiju, Mooga, Havrani, Dharwaja, Bhadravathi Kushka, Kothmeri, Kalai sounds different. The dialogues here are straightforward be it men or women.

Monkey Seena becomes Tiger Seena is not a specialist in killing but also specialist in eating banana. He is a real Porki like character but dialogues given to female character were not wanted.

In a nutshell Popcorn is Devi alias Devika (Nivedhita) while Monkey Seena alias Tiger Seena (Dhananjay) raise and fall is all about the film. How he becomes Monkey Seena later Tiger Seena with various characters is the Soori screenplay of direction. There is mother sentiment, sister sentiment, lover sentiment, two girls with Tiger Seena clash and at loggerheads and finally what Tiger Seena was telling just happens.

Dhananjay is extreme in drinking, smoking and uttering foul languages. It is a direct attack from him. If he is director Puppet in this kind of role, his career will be in danger. Is this actor who acted in ‘Allamma’ Kannada cinema? Nan Hero Kanro, elru Nan Villain anta ankondiddare – this should not repeat from him.

Nivedhita as mother losing the child in the big bad city, later transforming as Seena lover has acted with ability, Seena wife Girija character artist dialogues are for the gallery. There four more new characters – Mooga, Galiju, Sugar, Kothmeri character strikes with difference.

The background score and one of the songs in this film from Charanraj is extremely good. Cinematography of Shekhar gives the mood required for the film.

The film travels behind and at places told as one year later. Yet the characters of Prashanth Siddi and Poornachandra woke up. There are few more such confusing tactics of the director Soori.
